BTB Update 3-1-23

Hello, St. Peter’s family!
The Building Committee had a meeting on Feb. 23 to walk through the Fellowship Hall to check out the progress. We learned that things are moving along in a very timely manner which is always good news, especially in our world where there are labor shortages and supply chain issues! You may remember that I joined this committee after it had already been meeting for a while, perhaps about 2 years. Before I even joined, this group of individuals had done lots of due diligence, hit lots of stumbling blocks, investigated a few dead ends. All of that was before the work ever began. So far, demo is about completed and there have not been any expensive surprises. In an old building, there are always a few unknowns. I feel like a big part of not having those surprises is because these people really did the leg work to keep that chance as small as possible. At our meeting, we looked at granite, cabinet and wall colors, plus flooring. This space will be light, bright, and clean. We also want the colors to be very neutral since we only remodel every 50 years! Steve mentioned having new floor plans to display in the church narthex or Commons area for folks to see so keep a look out for those. What’s coming up next? Unfortunately, more inconveniences as we trench for a new water line, replace the driveway at the Treehouse, punch through a wall into the narthex. Stay alert! We’re not requiring hardhats, but try to avoid areas that look congested and pay attention to any new signage. We appreciate your patience! Pray for our workers. Pray that they are safe and healthy and that they know
how much we appreciate them at St. Peter’s!
